RAVE CULTURE INFLUENCES FASHION WITH MIU MIU’S LATEST RUNWAY SHOW.
Miu Miu’s Cruise 2017 collection, presented in Paris, echoed night club vibes from head to toe. Somewhat refreshing form a brand who normally sticks to classic hues and girly cuts, Miu Miu essentially threw a party, opening the doors of a one-night-only private club in Paris, to celebrate the brand’s new direction. Looking over the Champs Élysées, the grand Hotel de la Paiva set the scene for an extravagant fashion party featuring surprises like a DJ set by Kate Moss herself. The party also featured screenings of Miu Miu’s latest Autumn/Winter 2016 ad campaign, short fashion films, and BTS looks at the Cruise collection. Creative director and heir to the Prada/Miu Miu empire, Miuccia Prada, said she took hints and inspiration from ‘90s British rave culture when designing the collection. The colourful tones and wild directions of the pieces themselves definitely echo a musical influence, through and through.
